BLURB

BARRETT LANDRY has it all.

Power, prestige, and plenty of women, the dapper politician’s life is pretty phenomenal. But in the midst of the biggest campaign of his life, he needs to focus. The last thing he can afford is a distraction.

ALISON BAKER is a work-in-progress.
As a single mother to HUXLEY, she’s rebuilding life on her terms. She’s focused on family, faith, and a future for her son that can’t be taken away. Putting her child first means not being careless, no matter what.

A chance encounter forces Barrett and Alison to redefine what they really want out of life. But everything comes at a cost ... and sometimes, even for love, it’s a price too steep to pay.

My review.

*3 Unholy Alliance Nutella Jars*

It was just a coincidence or maybe it was fate but when two people are meant to be it's much more then the chase. Reporting live from the world of Politics galore there's a scandal just waiting to happen but a rendezvous was inconvenient and messy for sure. One of me absolute guilty pleasures has to be political romance I for the life of me can't help it. It's fecking crack, with all the drama and scandal how can you expect me not to enjoy, jeysus I'm only human.

Alison Baker or otherwise known as Ali was working numerous waitressing jobs to support not only herself but her son Huxley too. Working as a single mom while trying to finish school was pretty exhausting but the last thing Ali wanted was to come face to face with the notorious Mayor Landry. She'd sworn off men for a reason, but with just his eyes on her, Ali was left breathless and a little bit curious, is the devil with green eyes worth the risk or is history about to replay itself all over again.

"There's something completely intoxicating about being treated like a lady and manners are the best foreplay."

Barrett Landry playboy , mayor and all southern alpha. Being the oldest sibling out of the Laundry clan he had a responsibility, the one he enjoyed to no end. Behind all that male bravado Barrett was a family man , when not constantly being surrounded by cameras and politicians Laundry was playing big brother to his 5 siblings. With endless support and love from his family Barrett was heading on the right track the one he had wanted since he was kid, until a pair of striking blue eyes caught his attention.

"This may be the South, where people like to think it's all gentility and manners, but it's also politics, and it has its own code of conduct that morality has no place in. Politics equals power, but it also equals fortune, a bit of fame, and a lot of pussy, and these men take full advantage of it all. "

She wanted to stay away from the spotlight and he wanted the fame but when you know you just do. Maybe a little touch could change the game.

"Ah," I breathe, grinding myself against him. His cock rubs against the walls of my vagina, the contact causing my clit to stroke against his body. I mix up my motion. I rock in a circle and then pump up and down, the differences in stimulation working me into a frenzy. I shift my weight onto my feet and slide my body down his shaft. A smirk covers his face. "Keep it up and this will be over before it's really even begun."

Yes I'm a pervert deal with it. Now to why the 3 jars and other banter for starters let's talk about Barrett, as a character he could have been a douce of epic proportions but thankfully he wasn't, what I wanted him to be a wee bit more valiant not in his personal life or wooing the heroine but rather in his work life. As man in his *fictional* position I expected a little more as in certain issue is at hand let's say Barrett wasn't as decisive as he should have been, other than that he was bang on and I don't just mean that in a sexual way. Now to Ali *sigh* I was really rooting for her but sadly I was kind of disappointed. No doubt she was strong when she really needed to be for her son but as far as her self esteem was concerned that girl lost her wit. Sure you've been scarred but when something good comes your way for fecks sake don't constantly doubt every single move, either enter the pitch or stand on the side lines but don't be halfway it just makes things 10 times worse. The thing is book reading trend has changed if we have a strong hero we want a stronger heroine but unfortunately it was miss for me. That doesn't mean the author overall didn't do a fantastic job , it was a book with tons of potential and especially the secondary characters from Barrett's THREE yes Three brothers and two sisters to Ali's amazing friends this book had promise. Even though this was a so/so read for me I can't wait for the next Landry series especially Graham *swoon* definitely keep an eye out for this series.

EXCERPT

“I want a chance to win you over,” he breathes, peering at me. The way his eyes search mine make it seem like time stands still. “Will you let me try?”
He forces a swallow and the look of hesitation, the internal fight he’s having, isn’t lost on me. It’s there, right beneath the surface, and when I add my concerns to the mix, it’s enough to make me balk. Just a bit.
"I'll think about it," I whisper, holding on to the little strand of courage I have left.
“Say yes.”
Instead of responding, I ask, "Where'd you get that scar over your right eye?" I reach out and press gently on the raised skin. I expect him to pull back, but he doesn't.
My hand shakes as I touch his warmed skin. His forehead is silky and smooth. I'd like to run my hands over every inch of it, feel it ripple beneath my fingertips.
The corner of his lips twitch. "Lincoln hit me in the head with a baseball."
"Bad reflexes on your part?"
"Wicked curveball on his," he says, his face breaking out into a full smile.
“I thought he played center field?”
“He does. But he pitched some growing up.”
We stand inches apart, my hand gently brushing down the side of his face. Although I feel like he'd stand here all night and talk to me, it’s not possible.
"I really need to get back to work," I say, trying to unlock my eyes from his.
“Dinner? This week?”
I can barely resist the look in his eye, the one that implores me to say yes. The one that makes me believe he really does want to have dinner and spend a few hours with me.
I need to get away, put some space between us while I can.
“We ran into each other tonight,” I shrug. “If we’re supposed to see each other again, then I guess we will.” I start to turn away before I completely buckle under his gaze.
“How am I supposed to get ahold of you? I don’t have your number,” he calls after me.
Heading up the steps to the Savannah Room, I glance at him over my shoulder. “You’re the Mayor. Figure it out.”
