Inflict by Bethany Kris

* 4.5 Godless Saint Nutella jars*

In a lifestyle where blood was as abundant as water and a few cuts here or there wasn't seen as something unusual, the mafia wasn't just notorious for killing but for their sinister men that hid behind closed door until the monster inside them decided to show face.

Connor O’Neil at the innocent age of 5 found out what he truly was born into with his shoddy character of a father and certain monsters haunting him this wee lad grew up everything he wasn't raised to be. In the midst of his cruel upbringing Connor found a happy place actually he found two happy places, one with curious wee fur balls and second with a curly haired lass that was all sparkles and smiles. Fast forward a few years now at 27 Connor still held onto those bittersweet memories but what happened, soon he was about to come face to face with the truth.

" Some monsters needed to stay sleeping ."

She was Evelyn but then she was Sasha, she was a wee child that lived in a happy world , she was a women that choose not to speak a single word. She was snowfall kisses and I love you hugs , she was a bleeding artist and a fallen girl. It was one man's poison that brought another's home to the ground but it took one boys promise and now she was finally found.

“I see you exactly as you are. I made you look exactly as you are ."

It's never as easy as it seems, some monsters pretend to be wounded while they plan they're vilest of plots. Helplessness was the best form of torture or was it a signal for one last final blow.

“Only the bloodiest ones wear the crown.”

The boy who gave his heart and the girl who stole a kiss. The man who carried her love and the women who found her home at last.

" He gave her exactly what she asked for, hard, sharp thrusts that forced her hands to drag against the walls, likely scraping her soft palms up as she struggled to gain some kind of traction with his brutal rhythm. Connor didn’t slow enough to let her find any support—he couldn’t, not once he got started.

All he could focus on was the way she fell onto his cock with each thrust, how her cries bounced off the alley walls, and how entirely free she looked in that moment ."

My Thoughts In The End:

If ye thought there's no way Bethany Kris could out do herself then think again cause she has once again dived straight into my one click authors list. It takes some kind of incredible writing to be consistent and without a doubt she managed to stay true to her writing style whilst introducing a whole new type of mafia. Though let's get one thing clear we've all read about the bad guy in books we read sometimes it's the hero himself but let me just say this out straight the villain in this book reminds me of death, I swear on all the books I've read this is the first time a bad guy made me feel morbid that's right morbid.

When reading characters ye hate ye feel anger, loathing and just out right killer tendencies but this time it felt morbid. Have ye ever read a book that made you feel that sickened and dark over a character , personally I haven't so this was definitely something new. Now I've said this once ill say it again I HATE and I mean hate Irish mafia why you ask cause I've read few and I was never blown away *Exception for Liam* there's always that one phrase that's wrong or a cliché that doesn't exist but I was happy I found none of that in this book. Also wee warning there is a sensitive topic in the book but ye have to understand it exists in a modern day world and the author does not apologise for showing it as it is , it's sickening but sadly it's true. On that note I really did enjoy this book and can't wait for more BK goodness.

As the son of an Irish mobster, Connor O'Neil spent his boyhood hiding from the horrors of his own home. His one reprieve was a girl he knew only as Evelyn, but even she was taken away.

As a man, Connor is determined to stay away from his father's business. With Sean, participation is not a request, but a demand. The truth is, Connor might be more like the evil he's trying to hide away from than he would like to admit.   And he's already spent years trying to cover the scars left over from the pain.

A chance encounter puts the lost girl from his past back on his path, and he no longer has a choice but to face the darkness he's been ignoring for years.

Evelyn. Sasha. Slave.  She doesn't really know who she is anymore.  Or maybe she does, and she doesn't want to tell.  She isn't the same as she once was-now a thing to be kept and maintained, shuffled from owner to owner until it was her time to go.

She only became Connor's because he took her when he knew she wasn't his to take.   Except she isn't Connor's at all …   And he can't keep her hidden forever.
