It's Hallorans Vs O'Malleys but not the way you'd expected. Mafia life isn't a game , it's much more then power it's a little more about the race. These two weren't meant to be but circumstances change behind closet walls and car trunks, hearts get caught behind the audience's gaze.
James Halloran was trying to turn his family around bit just by being a better boss but setting an example. After a nightmarish upbringing by his father James swore he'd do better and now with the power under his feet James is caught between a stand still. The enemy is an enemy for a reason or that was until it came dressed in sin , this boss might have taken his Kingdom but he had eyes on a forbidden Queen.
James was as bloodthirsty as they wanted him to be, he knew how to look around him and see that the odds weren’t in the Hallorans’ favor.
In comes crashing in Carrigan O'Malley as the oldest child Carrigan's clock is ticking down but while that clock runs , the family mourns a loss a loss that causes too much heartache. While dealing with her suffocating life Carrigan never expected to be drawn to the one who caused the loss, he might not have caused it but the lines were clear as day between her heart and loyalties this O'Malley might choose not to stay
She was well and truly trapped, up to her neck in quicksand and sinking fast.
Overall a Fantastic read with the right amount of angst, action and anticipation. I wouldn't call the I typical enemies to lovers but it was much more seasoned then that like a modern romeo Juliet with a 2016 logic. It was an absolutely pleasure reading this book and I might have enjoyed this more then book one *gasp* but I can't help it, a must read for all those mafia lovers who like a little more attraction on the side.
